Wireless Solution Sweden AB is playing an important part on the set of “Wicked – The Witches of Oz” in the Palladium theatre, Stuttgart, Germany. Every evening, the Palladium transforms into a mythic world populated by witches, flying monkeys, a giant dragon and even a billy goat. The high-energy musical is the perfect setting for W-DMX™.
Since many stage elements require both DMX signal and the ability to move about, two Wireless Solution W-DMX™ BlackBox S-1 transmitters and seven W-DMX™ BlackBox R-512 receivers with batteries were installed. The show is controlled with one GrandMA full-size and one GrandMA light. The lighting rig includes 110 Rainbow PRO 6″ scrollers, 15 Rainbow PRO 8″ scrollers, 4 Rainbow PRO 12″ scrollers and 2 Rainbow PRO 15″ scrollers, which color the stage in “Wicked-Green” and other colors. In addition, 34 Vari*Lite VL3000 Q spots, 34 Vari*Lite VL2500 spots, 30 Vari*Lite VL2500 wash lights, 3 Robert Juliat Cyrano, 329 ETC Source Four, 2 De Sisti Piccolo 10kW and 28 Major PAR Birdies light the show. 46 major power distributions deliver the current for the whole rig Each new show of “Wicked” is based on the original lighting design by Kenneth Posner, with Michael Odam and Karen Spahn as Associate Lighting Designers. Andy Peistrup is head of lighting, and programming is done by Philipp Herbs W-DMX™ is the perfect solution for applications where running DMX cable is not practical.
