Wireless Solution Sweden AB was recently part of a very special team responsible for a record-breaking installation at Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The installation gives boasting rights to the church for having the largest permanent installation of High End Systems DL.2s onto one of the largest stages on the East Coast, all controlled with W-DMX
Creative Stage Lighting from North Creek, NY supplied all of the new equipment and the complete wireless system which included 4 – A40001 W-DMX Transmitter – 512ch Blackbox S1; 4 – A40102 W-DMX Receiver – 512ch Blackbox R512; and 8 – W-DMX Antenna Indoor 5 Omni – 5dbi to send wireless signal to 10 High End DL.2s, an Axon Media Server to manage all content, and an additional DP2000 Processor, in addition to Evangel’s very large existing lighting rig consisting of Wholehog 2 and Wholehog 3 Consoles, High End Systems x.Spots and Cyberlights, Morpheus Color Faders, Vari*Lite VL1000’s and over 575 dimmers. Koster Design of Branson, MO was responsible for the design and installation of the entire project. Kelly Koster and Mike Gormley of Koster Design first met with Bryan Meares from Evangel Cathedral at the High End Systems booth during LDI 2006, where he immediately loved the idea for the expansion. Throughout the entire process, the entire team made careful choices to ensure that project got the very best solutions for the budget. The new gear was shipped directly to Creative Stage Lighting, where a staff of 4 worked exclusively on setting up the DL.2’s, Wireless DMX and Axon Media Server to make sure the install went quickly with no downtime once on-site. The final package was then cased and trucked directly to the venue for the start of installation. A 3 day schedule was slated for the install which included the fixture hang, making all custom new DMX jumper cables, the wireless DMX install and the AXON integration. The new gear was rolled in at 9am and after only 1 day the system was up and ready to go with not a single problem. Gormley was particularly pleased with the W-DMX system claiming, “This controls the largest permanent install of DL.2 units anywhere on the planet! During the installation, the W-DMX gear was installed, trained and operational within 15 minutes with no interference or operational issues.
