Wireless Solution Sweden AB recently participated in an educational and eco-friendly lighting event not so far from the company headquarters in Uddevalla – The PLDA Event – Lights in Alingsås
W-DMXTM was used on two of the six displays for the event, helping to make it greener than ever, much to the delight of the designers and organizers of the event, which saw approximately 75,000 visitors. Every October since the year 2000, leading lighting designers gather in Alingsås, Sweden, a town located near the country’s southwest coastline. Throughout this time, the dark evenings come alive with exciting lighting design installations in the town’s outdoor environments. Lights in Alingsås 2010, in cooperation with the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association (PLDA) featured six installations from lighting designers from Great Britain, South Africa, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. The first of the two sites using W-DMX was done by German LD Karl Maria Reger, where he did the lighting design for Kabomhusets façade and western parking. He used a WE-EF gobo projector (WE-EF FLC254 CC-BL) that was controlled via W-DMX. Reger said, “The majority of our installation was indoors and the control signal was fed through cables. However, there was one DMX controlled luminaire outside the building, and it would have been near to impossible to do without the wireless DMX system here because we could not run cables through the windows. This is where Wireless Solution came in really handy.” Dutch LD Rogier Hengeveld from Traxon e:cue, who co-designed this installation with Reger said: “It was perfect that we had it, as there was not another simple way to go with wires through the window. It was just a plug and play solution, so it was easy to use. Would I use this device more often or recommend it to anybody else: sure!” The second site was designed by Canzler Deike and used Philips Solid State equipment controlled via W-DMX. The site involved lighting a river, however, the surrounding areas were city streets, with no opportunity to run cable to the necessary control points. Falk Düning, Event Manager for Alingsås explained, “The challenge for Deike’s site was that it was a river that was surrounded by streets. There could be no cables run over the streets so W-DMX was the easiest solution. W-DMX performed reliably as we were used to it! Easy connections, just plug and play.”
