1. Cables suck
This should be the only reason, but we’ll give you others in case you’re still not convinced. No more running around laying or coiling cables. With wireless, deployment time is a lot quicker than the traditional method, and you don’t have to spend hours coiling them back. It’s also more environmentally friendly and doesn’t require maintenance.
2. Trip-Hazards: Mind the old folks!
Needless to say that you will no longer need cable ramps – there isn’t a physical object connecting front-of-house to stage: it’s pure wireless magic! This will make the health and safety lads a lot happier, you won’t need to crawl before each gig to cover the cables, and you can be (literally) miles away from your lights! Have you ever thought about working from the bar?
3. If the Spot has 37 channels, then what address should the wash be on?
Not good at math? Luckily most desks can tell you which channel your fixtures must be on. And guess what? They can also set the address for you automatically, through RDM! W-DMX™ is fully compatible with RDM, making sure that even the furthest fixtures from you will communicate back to the desk. Why not look at our BlueBox?
4. Pimp your bike with LEDs, AND DO AWESOME TRICKS IN THE DARK!
Or any sort of vehicle, really. Have you ever seen dancers with those LED suits? You must have noticed by now that it would be impossible to dance with cables attached to you. We recently helped Shock FX in the UK fueling DMX to a light suit and an FMX bike. The final outcome was breathtaking! – Small Disclaimer – Any tricks that may involve vehicles should not be done unless by highly competent people!
5. The Pros love Wireless DMX
Outstanding professionals like Patrick Woodroffe, Paul Normandale, Adam Bassett, Jason McKinnon, Joshua Thatcher, Ted Wells, Fredrik Nilsson, Ola Melzig, Mark Fisher and many (many!!) others, already use W-DMX™ in high-profile events. These include Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Eurovision events, and other outstanding performances.
6. Reliable technology – and it’s not at all like Wi-Fi
Our technology is not at all like the Wi-Fi you know – we only share the same frequency band. We designed our radios from scratch, to work exclusively with DMX data – you can’t send “the internet” through our boxes (sorry mum!). This is why we can send DMX to such long distances. If you’re a lighting geek, drop us an email and we’ll explain all there is about our technology.
7. No 100-meter limit!
It’s very simple – cable works with voltage pulses, we work 0s and 1s. We integrate the data so you can send it through longer distances – for example, you should never use more than 100 meters (110 yards) of DMX cable, as your data might disintegrate. When you send a command from a desk, we send it in packets (each gets transmitted 4 times), receive it assemble, and send to our lights. Could not be more efficient than this!
8. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!
Big projects require lots of cables. Small projects [often] require a low budget! We thought about everyone’s wallets, and came up with the most affordable solution on the market, with an exceptional track-record for performance.
